We checked out at 9:15, then humped our bags to the very busy train station which took us to Málaga where we caught the bus to Nerja. We arrived at 11:45. It was a pleasant ride along the coast. Our apartment is ten minutes down the road and our host met us to help get us settled. We didn’t waste any time and headed out to find Balcón de Europa, one of the most popular places in Andalusia. I took a picture of Jill with the statue of the late king AlfonsoXII who named the spot as the Balcony of Europe.
On our way back we stopped at the grocery store, across the road from our apartment. We decided to have smoked salmon cream pasta, our favourite. We found all that we needed, including white wine for cooking and drinking. We love that we can buy excellent wine for less than €3. Our apartment is really well fitted out with almost everything we need. At one point, I realized I didn’t have a small tomato. Off I went to the store and was back within minutes. The I realized we didn’t have kitchen tongs, a much used tool which is how I remove and dish out pasta. Jill immediately set off to the Asian everything store next door and came back within minutes with what we needed for €1.5 - we will bring them with us to use going forward.
Our apartment is perfect with a well kitted out kitchen, including a very sharp chefs knife, so important. We don’t have the views of our last place but hey, you can’t have everything you want all the time.
Tomorrow we are going to the world famous caves of Nerja. This could be the high point of our vacation.
