We woke up to a cool 18 degree day. We headed down to St. Canice’s and Rushcutters Bay where the memories of my early years were formed. We passed many people who looked us in the eye as we exchanged greetings, it was like we were part of their village. Awesome.
After checkout, we wheeled our bags down to our apartment which was doors away from St. Canice’s where I went to kindergarten and grade one. It was run by the Sisters of Charity. It is now a soup kitchen, which helps those who need a hand to survive their addictions and hardships.
After settling in, we received our Woolworths grocery order as arranged from Canada. Our host told us that it was a quiet flat, with the exception of the birds that start early in the morning. A white sulphur crested cockatoo landed on our window ledge while I was out getting a few things for dinner. Jill said he was knocking on the window as she grabbed her phone to take a few pictures.
Dinner was what I call peasant pasta, my version of aglio e olio; garlic and oil with tomatoes, chilli peppers and parsley with a green salad. Simple and delicious.
Awesome wall art!
