Day 8 Koufonissi

September 6, 2023

Last night we walked in to town for dinner, stopping along the way to take cat pictures. I had a dish you don’t normally see, cuttlefish and mussel risotto with cuttlefish ink, it was yum. Jill had pork chops with a local soft creamy cheese, mushrooms and tomatoes. Way too much for one person, three thin chops and lots of portobello mushrooms.

This morning after another fabulous breakfast, we decided to walk to another beach using Google maps. Of course I took pictures along the way. It was a humid day, but well worth the walk. After a long swim and float we headed back to our place to cool down before going out for lunch. I had a spinach and feta pie and Jill a dacos salad. We have learned that Greek portions are large but still, two inexpensive dishes was a lot.

We are surprised at how much some people eat. We have seen dish after dish come out to tables for two. A couple next to us shared a Greek salad, then each had a spinach feta pie, then each a large bowl of pasta. And they ate it all, that’s a lot of food to put away.

We walked down to the port grocery store to buy Greek honey, which is the best we have ever tasted, and some ouzo to bring home. Very reasonable prices.

We are leaving tomorrow by ferry to Amorgos. So tonight we are relaxing and snacking on Naxos cheese, Kalamata olives, and Greek wine, cheers!
