Day 10 Amorgos

September 8, 2023

The day started early. The temperature was lower, as was the humidity. We walked along the beach road and found a grocery store where we bought what we needed for dinner tonight.

Today is a beach day. Usually we swim and walk but today we laid on the beach, snoozed, and swam. The water was beautifully refreshing and so clear - for some reason it didn’t seem to be overly salty even though floating required no effort. Bonus was a shower on the beach.

We headed back to our hotel around 3ish and started preparing dinner. The stove has 2 burners and each time we tried to use them together, they both shut off. Cooking was a challenge. While we were cooking the Blue Star Naxos ferry came into port. We knew a ferry was arriving by the loud sound of the anchor dropping, which makes quite the racket. It was cool to watch as  it manoeuvred to turn itself around in order to drop the huge metal gang plank.

It took three hours to finally serve dinner, but worth the effort - I made my signature dish, Peasant Pasta with shrimp, one of Jill’s favourites. We didn’t need air con as there was a nice breeze coming through the open windows. We dined on our little table with a view of the beach below. Absolutely lovely.
