Day 11, Praia do Vau Cliff Walk, May 18, 2025

This morning we took an Uber to Praia do Vau to do the cliff walk, which we partially did eighteen years ago. It brought back a lot of memories. The first challenge was getting out of the canyon with the help of a rope someone had tied to a root. It wasn’t there when our legs were younger. We made it to the trail and then marvelled at the views. This time we continued to where we had left off back then. The views were breathtaking as you can see from the pics. The secluded beaches amongst the rocks were so inviting, but not for us seniors - those days have past. We have to just imagine ourselves lying on the beautiful sand, which was created millions of years ago.

We were in uncharted territory and wondered if we could somehow find a trail to prevent us from having to retrace our steps. We were hopeful when we saw a rooftop. We continued walking and asked a couple where they were coming from. “Alvor is that way.” We finally got to a road that took us to town. We had been walking for about two hours (10 km).

When we got into Alvor we headed back to Napoli for another delicious pizza. This time it was a Margarita pizza with two large Super Bock beers (€17). A stop at the market to get tonight’s fish dinner, hake in a white wine garlic and caper lemon sauce with broccoli.

We found a delicious bottled sangria and added some fizzy rose wine - yum. I worked on my blog while we waited for our washing machine to do it’s thing. So great to have a washing machine in our unit.

All of our diners have included a green leaf salad dressed with Portuguese extra virgin olive oil and red wine vinegar. We love watching Masterchef UK when we eat. The risotto Jill made was a lovely accompaniment. We settled in to what we call our lounge to watch an episode of the finals of Masterchef. Due to the time difference we were not able to watch game 7 of the Leafs vs Panthers game. Off to bed with positive dreams for the Leafs.

Day 18, Alvor, Portugal, May 25, 2025

Our last day in Alvor. I was happy to see that the swelling was going down substantially in my foot so we decided to go for one last walk on...
