We were up early and took an Uber to Lagos, which is west of us on the other side of the estuary. We love taking Ubers. It was just €3 more than taking the bus. Lagos is a big town. We were let off at the marina and walked across the draw bridge to get to the cliff boardwalk. At one point we considered taking a €25 per person boat ride to the caves of Lagos but being in a small boat for three hours didn’t appeal to us. The Ponte da Piedade boardwalk took us above the caves and although it was from up high, we could appreciate what they were seeing. We walked for a few hours then headed back. We found a great reasonably priced place for lunch called The Garden, which was the setting. We both had the grilled sea bass special which also included fries, salad, and a drink, beer or wine. It was so nice to be in this little oasis in the old town.
We took an Uber home and headed for the pool. I was hot and had a refreshing swim.We both passed out for an hour under the afternoon sun. It was rematch time. After winning two games, I was now up 4 matches to 3. We love our afternoon pool games. It was time to plan dinner.
Our market is just minutes away. We decided on pork. Our kitchen is better than camping, but using a serrated chefs knife to saw through meat is not part of the pleasure I get from cooking, but you have to do the best with what you have. I broke down the pork chunks and removed the fat and sinew. It needed to be slow cooked to be tenderized. Onions, garlic, white wine, a squeeze of tomato paste, chicken stock, Dijon mustard, piri piri flakes, red pepper, and zucchini, an on-the-fly concoction we served over rice. It was scrumptious. I love cooking like this. Jill did the kitchen clean up and we were toast. It was a lovely day with lots of walking and great sightseeing.
The sea bass looks great!
