Day 3, Alvor, Portugal, May 10, 2025

Another good sleep. We were up by 8 so we headed to the boardwalk to check it out and the beach, which is the largest sandy beach (3.5 km) in one of the finest resort towns in all of the Algarve. The boardwalk was built to protect the sand dunes of the Ria de Alvor Nature Reserve and along the Praia de Alvor beach front. We walked for close to three hours on the boardwalk and back on the beach into town for lunch. We ended up going back to The Olive Garden after checking out a multitude of spots to eat. Nothing beats eating on a roof top. I had a bacon burger and Jill, a southern fried chicken burger. We couldn’t resist ordering a bowl of  their shoestring fries with 3 pints of beer. Delicious! €27.50 (CDN $41).

There was a cool breeze in the afternoon so we went home after turning around on our way to the pool. I had a short snooze to catch up on my sleep deficit while Jill read. It was a perfect time to start my travel blog. We stopped to get some sausages and mustard for dinner to have with a green lettuce salad. We’ve never had delicious pork sausages like these. I deglazed the pan with red wine and hot Dijon mustard. Delish.

We finished our meal with an espresso, tawny port, and the lemon cake we didn’t eat for breakfast on the plane. We ended the night catching up on Masterchef UK on Jill’s iPad.

Day 18, Alvor, Portugal, May 25, 2025

Our last day in Alvor. I was happy to see that the swelling was going down substantially in my foot so we decided to go for one last walk on...
