Today was a great day. We made our way up to the bus station and bought our tickets to get up to Cueva de Nerja, Cave of Nerja. The cave was discovered in 1959 by five boys chasing bats amongst the rocks. They were formed over five million years ago when rainwater seeped through limestone cracks dissolving the rock with acid water. It had been inhabited by Neanderthals from at least 35,000 BC. It was a shelter, a burial site and an artistic hub. It contains the world’s longest stalactite 33 meters in length. It has 600 cave paintings of seals, goats, deers and horses. Our audio tour using our iPhones gave us a ton of information at each of the nine stops. We walked leisurely through the cave for one and a half hours of amazement and then enjoyed a virtual reality show after we exited. When looking at the pictures, you will see people to understand the enormity of the cave. I think the most amazing place I have ever been.
We took the bus back to Nerja and searched out a recommended place to have a bite and play some pool. It was just up from Burriana Beach. We got there by walking down cardiac hill. Jill won all three games. We headed back by climbing 101 steps and working our way through some beautiful streets. We stopped to pick up some groceries for dinner. It was time for a game of scrabble. Jill jumped in to the lead immediately and totally cleaned my clock. Today, everything is coming up J. It was celebration time so we had a bottle of Spanish sparkling rose wine called Cava. It was a wonderful day.
