Torremolinos to Mijas, Spain, May 4, 2026

We were up early to catch the train to Fuengirola, then the bus up to Mijas. We drove to Mijas fifty years ago and has it ever changed. It was a sleepy village and now it is a hugely popular tourist destination. The views are spectacular. Lots of beautiful gardens, leather shops, restaurants and cafes and lots of guided tours and people everywhere. We stopped for a sandwich and a beer after taking in the views and exploring the village. The changes were astounding. I scored a nice souvenir Spanish apron to add to my collection.

We caught the 12:30 bus back to Fuengirola just as it was about to depart, then the train within minutes to spare. Fifty five minutes all told. Jill was craving the shrimp we had the other night so we picked those up and headed to an English pub to play some pool. The pool table was smaller than ours with tight pockets and had red and yellow balls which were also smaller. The cue ball was a bit smaller than the coloured. And to top it off, the cue tips were at least 3mm smaller than our home cues.It was an adjustment for both of us but Jill won the first game handily and I won the second. Jill was leading in the rubber match but sadly I was victorious.

Today was our sunniest day with a nice breeze as we got close to the water. The view from our room had changed dramatically. First time seeing whitecaps contrasting on a blue green sea. The dark that you see is the a cloud shadow.
