There is a lot of heartache and desperation in the world. We tend to close our eyes and look the other way. Today was not that for me. I came face to face with a beggar in Malaga. He had no arms and was holding a cup in his mouth, shaking it to attract attention. I will never forget this man. I have tears writing this. If hope were dollars, they’d be millionaires. Man, we are so frickin lucky.
There were two beggars in Torremolinos on crutches. One in particular had deformed legs. They would shake cups with a few coins to catch your ears then your eyes. I’d find change in my pocket for them. They’d thank me, gracias. One would say, gracias papa. We’d see them almost daily.
My thoughts are that we need to help people, help those who can’t help themselves. Don’t turn your head.
