We took the bus from Nerja to Granada, an hour forty five minute ride. We took a taxi from the bus station to our apartment, a ten Euro ride. Up to the fourth floor. As we entered, we both had disappointment on our faces. We settled in and ate the loaded buns I made the day before then headed out to explore the area. We weren’t loving it. We navigated to the Mercado de San Agustin. After visiting markets in Barcelona and Lisbon, we were expecting a similar experience. We didn’t. It was small, very noisy, with groups eating and raising their voices to be heard. The prices were nothing like we expected or what had been shown online. Medium size fresh shrimp were over €50/kg, outrageous! We were out within minutes, again with disappointment on our faces as we were planning to buy and cook fresh but not paying exorbitant prices. We walked to a large grocery store to do a shop and caught a taxi back.
While I was preparing dinner, Dorada fish fillets, Jill figured out that we can cut our stay in Granda by two nights and go back to another apartment doors down on the tenth floor from where we were previously for our last four nights before heading home. The view from our apartment was ugly, so no pictures except to the direction of the Cathedral and Alhambra from our place. Jill moved in our balcony table and chairs so we could dine inside.
Tomorrow we are going to explore the area around Alhambra, a half hour walk from our apartment.
