Jill went outside this morning and was surprised to see clouds for the first time on our trip. They made for some beautiful early morning pictures. They didn’t last long. We started our day with a walk along the beach road. There are some hippie looking restaurants, remnants of bygone days when Ios was a party island. We took the bus up to Chora and wondered the alleys. We blindly took turns which led us higher and higher. We must have seen over thirty cats roaming the alleys with us. We passed by many little hole in the wall tavernas not open until the evening. I snuck into the Lord Byron restaurant, which was recommended by the receptionist at our hotel, and took a few pictures. Very funky. We carried on almost to the top which is crowned with another chapel. The views are breathtaking. I couldn’t stop taking pictures.
We headed back down to the main road to find something to eat and saw a restaurant up a road that was open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was called Seven Eleven Restaurant. The menu was extensive and reasonably priced. We ordered two large beers and the pizza special which was loaded with all the things we like. It was a pleasant delicious surprise. There was enough to satisfy us and some to take back. The tab was €25, a bargain. We sat outside with one of the best views in the town. We overheard the next table talking about Trump, they were from Victoria, BC on a big trip covering lots of Greek and Spanish destinations before heading to Hawaii.
We missed the bus by seconds, which runs like clockwork to the minute every half hour so we decided to walk the path back to our place. It was an easy downhill winding walk. It took about 15 minutes. The temperature topped at 24, so not too hot. Back at our place we watched the Jimmy Kimmel Show monologue. Awesome! It was now pool time.
Towels are supplied. The water was pleasantly refreshing. Jill read a book she borrowed from reception while I caught some rays and a short snooze. We shared a beer from the pool bar and both hacked on our iPads after Jill discovered she had already read the Lee Child book she borrowed lol. You shouldn’t be surprised that we hide our own Easter eggs.
As the sun set, we walked down to the port. It was fairly quiet as the season is coming to an end. We saw some interesting looking boats as the the sky glowed.
