We were up early, 6:30. The sun as it rose lite up the town. I had to take more pictures, of course. Our hosts made us an early breakfast and sandwiches for our journey. I took several pictures of Anna Villas to show how beautiful the property is.
The Skopelitis arrived at 8:20, on schedule to the minute, remarkable. It departed within ten minutes. Greek efficiency at its best. This small ferry is the lifeline in the Cyclades. It can carry fourteen vehicles and three hundred plus passengers. Compared to the over two thousand passengers the large ferries handle. The downside is that it is slower and makes island stops, but is much cheaper at €8 vs €53 to get to the same destination.
We arrived in Naxos at 10:20 and waited at the port restaurant to catch the Blue Star Delos at 12:20. It was a quick 45 minutes to Ios. Our accommodations, Kritikakis Village Hotel, are ten minutes from the port. After checking in we looked at each other and said, wow, this is upscale. Hard to believe it was a mere €50 per night. The rain shower was the absolute best compared to any shower in Greece so far on all of our travels. The room is ultra modern and looks brand new. We were treated to a complimentary drink at the pool bar, Aegean Lemonade, featuring mastic, a tree resin from an evergreen tree which grows on the island of Chios. It was delicious. We sat by the pool and marveled at how beautiful this place is. Pictures to come tomorrow. We couldn’t be more impressed with the amenities.
We didn’t feel like a big meal so we took the bus up to the main town, Chora. Bus is €2 per person each way. Jill looked online and found a bar with pool tables (we love playing pool). We headed for the Fun Sports Bar to play some pool. Jill proclaimed that the big load of chicken wings were amongst
the best she has ever had. We shared them with fries and large drought beers. Coincidently, they had a Canadian and Australian flag over our table. It was a fun night. The bus dropped us off at our place. Ios is stunningly beautiful. Pictures tomorrow.
