Today we took the beach ferry shuttle. It took us past Finikas, Fanos, Italian, and let us off at the last beach, Pori, the largest. I snapped pictures along the way. It was still somewhat windy today. The swells getting to Pori looked to be almost three feet. Some of the girls at the front of the boat were screaming every time we dipped and then ascended. Once we got off and walked the long stone path to the beach we decided it was not for us. The location was on the north east side of the island so very windy, not pleasant. I took a picture of Jill on the beach which ended up looking like the immaculate conception was at work. But no, it was the wind. We walked back to the dock and caught the next ferry back to port. We even set up on the port beach with our beach towels but it was still too windy to be enjoyable so off we went for lunch to our go-to restaurant. I had calamari and Jill had the grilled local sausage, which was almost a foot long. Both meals were delicious.
We needed a short snooze since last night there was an all nigh music, dancing, charity event in the town which ended at six this morning. It was loud and featured fireworks at two and four in the morning. It was all the talk at breakfast. Many could not sleep through it.
This is our last night before we depart for Naxos on the iconic Skopelitis. It will stop at two island before we arrive in Naxos where we will wait two and a half hours to catch the ferry to Ios.
Tinight we will make a lettuce salad for a light dinner, then pack. It’s been a very relaxing fun time in Koufonissi. Our hosts could not have been friendlier and more helpful. It is family run, parents, two sons, and a daughter-in-law. Lovely people.
